If you wish to test on the live blockchain or work with real funds at your own discretion, you are able to do so.
Please be aware that that header compression is disabled. As a result, if you connect to the mainnet, your first sync may take 15-30 minutes, depending on connection and download speeds.
If you import the private keys for a wallet with funds in it, or if you immediately create a new wallet and send funds to it, you may notice some irregularities until your header list is fully synced.
You can easily check your sync status by clicking on the Network light in the bottom right (or selecting Tools-Network from the menu):
