What formula is used to infer network hashrate?

I see that several pools report the same (inferred) network hashrate for BTG.

What’s the formula used to make this estimate?

They are using nicehash maybe?

Everyone - including NiceHash - must be using some sort of formula, likely based on recent block times and the Difficulty, to infer the overall hashrate. I’m curious what the standard formula is. (But not curious enough to go digging for it in open-source pool code.)
